1. About SNV

With 60 years of experience and a team of approximately 1,600 people, it is our mission to strengthen capacities and catalyse partnerships that transform the agri-food, energy, and water systems to enable sustainable and more equitable lives for all.
2. Background and Objectives of the Assignment
The Youth Entrepreneurship in Agriculture in Rwanda (YEA-R) program is a multi-year
initiative aiming to create dignified and equitable work opportunities for 40,000 young women, men, and persons with disabilities. The YEA-R program seeks to make sustainable impact in Rwanda by enhancing the capacity of the YEA-R program Rwandan based-partners to lead this work in the future. Therefore, the Program includes capacity strengthening and co-creation
processes with the partners. YEA-R will transfer relevant knowledge, resources, and
responsibilities to partners over time to support the implementation of the program. The more the capacity of the partners increases, the more resources allocated to them for the implementation of the program and the role of the lead partners remains to oversight. The Program’s capacity
strengthening initiatives entail the institutional capacity building for compliance on funds utilization, meeting M&E and impact requirements, reporting requirement etc
The SNV YEA-R team used a three-pronged approach for the Partner Capacity Assessment which included:
- Policy, procedure, and organizational governance document review
- Partner self-assessment
- On-site key informant discussions
Across all partners several common and gaps were observed including data analysis and reporting in the program
To ensure effective data analysis, SNV Rwanda is seeking an experienced individual or company specializing in data analytics and business intelligence. The expert should have extensive
Knowledge of Excel automation, Power BI reporting, and data visualization are best practices. The assignment involves conducting advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI training and issuing certificates of completion.
The training aims to enhance participants’ proficiency in advanced Excel and Power BI, focusing on data analysis and reporting skills. The overarching goal is to equip participants with strong capabilities that will enhance their performance and drive positive transformations in their
respective roles and responsibilities.
3. Goal and objectives
- Enhance participants’ ability to manipulate, clean, and analyze large datasets using advanced Excel functions.
- Train participants in automating repetitive tasks and improving efficiency using Excel Macros and VBA.
- Enable participants to create dynamic dashboards and reports using Power BI;
- Develop participants’ ability to integrate Excel with Power Bi for seamless data analysis and visualization
4. Scope of work, Objectives and deliverables
The overall objective of the scoping study is to identify key opportunities and challenges regarding regenerative and circular agriculture in Rwanda and provide recommendations on priority interventions to inform to inform the decision-making of specific objectives are:

5. Training Schedule and Participant Overview
The training will be conducted over a series of five consecutive days for each cohort, bringing the total number of participants to 45, divided into three cohorts of 15 participants each.
- The first cohort includes staff from the SNV M&E team (3), partner M&E teams (8), SNV District Entrepreneur Supervisors (3), and one SNV Production Officer.
- The second cohort comprises 8 partner Project Managers, the YEA-R Program Manager and Deputy Manager (2), and SNV staff including a Project Officer, Access to Markets Advisor, Youth Entrepreneurship Advisor, Horticulture/Agronomist Advisor, and a Production Officer.
- The third cohort consists of 8 partner Finance team members, 2 SNV Finance staff, 3 from the SNV Operations team, the Grant and Partners Capacity Building Advisor, and one SNV Access to Market Officer.
The training sessions will be held at a venue outside Kigali and facilitated by an expert trainer in collaboration with the YEA-R Program’s Grant and Partners Capacity Building Advisor, SNV Rwanda M&E team, and other relevant SNV staff.
6. Objectives & outcomes
The objectives for these meetings are as follows:
- Enhance participants’ ability to manipulate, clean, and analyze large datasets using advanced Excel functions.
- Train participants in automating repetitive tasks and improving efficiency using Excel Macros and VBA.
- Enable participants to create dynamic dashboards and reports using Power BI;
- Develop participants’ ability to integrate Excel with Power Bi for seamless data analysis and visualization
7. The expected outcome:
By the end of this training, participants will have developed proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including the use of complex formulas, data manipulation strategies, and automation tools. They will also gain practical skills in Power BI, enabling them to create interactive dashboards and dynamic reports. With these combined capabilities, participants will be well-equipped to analyze large datasets, deliver meaningful insights, and support data-driven decision-making within their organizations.

9. Key compliance issues
Consultant must comply with SNV’s environmental and Social Safeguarding policies and procedures as well as take into consideration donor-specific requirements.
