ITANGAZO RIHAMAGARIRA ABAFITE IMISHINGA MITO KUGARAGAZA UBUSHAKE MU KUMENYEKANISHA IBIKORWA BYO GUFATA NEZA NO GUTUNGANYA UMUSARURO W’IMYUMBATI
ITARIKI: 18 Gashyantare 2026
Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (The Alliance), ni ikigo cy’ubushakashatsi bugamije kubungabunga urusobe rw’ibinyabuzima m’ubuhinzi no guteza imbere imibereho myiza hagamijwe kwihaza mu biribwa (https://alliancebioversityciat.org/ ).
The Alliance ni umunyamuryango wa Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) (www.cgiar.org), ihuriro mpuzamahanga ry’ibigo by’ubushakashatsi bigamije guteza imbere ubuhinzi no kwihaza mu biribwa. Ihuriro rya CGIAR rigamije kugeza tekinoloji, guhanga udushya no kubaka ubushobozi bw’abahinzi cyane cyane abahinzi bato, hagamijwe kuzamura ireme ry’ubuhinzi no kububyaza inyungu irambye.
International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) iri mu bigo bigize CGIAR, ni ikigo kidaharanira inyungu cy’ubushakashatsi bugamije iterambere gifite intego yo kurwanya inzara, ubukene, n’iyangirika ry’umutungo kamere muri Afurika.
Ku bufatanye na sendika Ingabo, IITA ishyira mu bikorwa umushinga witwa Gwiza Muhinzi mu Rwanda, ugamije guteza imbere uruherekanegaciro rw’igihingwa cy’imyumbati ku nkunga ya Komisiyo y’Umuryango w’Ubumwe bw’u Burayi (EU).
Uyu mushinga ugamije guteza imbere uruherekanegaciro rw’igihingwa cy’imyumbati ndetse ni ibiyikomokaho mu kwihaza mu biribwa no mu gutanga inyungu hibandwa by’umwihariko mu kongerera umusaruro no kuwutunganya.
Kugira ngo ibi bigerweho, umushinga uteza imbere imenyekanisha ry’iyongereragaciro rigezweho ry’imyumbati binyuze mu ku yitunganya neza nyuma yo kuyisarura kugira ngo hirindwe kwagirika kwayo, ndetse bihe inyungu abakora mu uruhererekane nyongeragaciro ku myumbati.
Uyu mushinga wigisha kandi ukamenyekanisha uburyo 3 bwo gutunganya igihingwa cy’imyumbati harimo:
- Gutunuganya Ifu nziza y’ imyumbati yujuje ubuziranenge (High Quality Cassava Flour/HQCF)
- Gutunganya ibiryo by’amatungu bikomoka ku bishishwa by’imyumbati byujuje ubuziranenge (High Quality Cassava Peels/HQCP)
- Gufata neza no kubika imyumbati nyuma yo gusarura (Post-Harvest Handling Systems/PHHS)
HQCF ikoreshwa nk’ifu ihendutse kandi iboneka mu gihugu, ishobora gusimbura cyangwa ikavangirwa ku kigero runaka ifu y’ingano mu migati, amandazi n’ibindi biribwa bikoreshwa ifarini. HQCP itanga uburyo bwo kongerera agaciro ibisigazwa by’imyumbati, cyane cyane mu biryo by’amatungo, bityo ikagira uruhare mu kurengera ibidukikije. Naho PHHS ifasha kunoza uburyo bwo gufata, kubika no gutunganya imyumbati, bigatuma ubuziranenge bwayo bubungabungwa kandi ibihombo bigabanuka.
Ibigo bito by’ubucuruzi n’amakoperative akora mu uruhererekane nyongeragaciro rw’ igihingwa cy’ imyumbati, by’umwihariko mu mitunganyirize yayo nyuma yo gusarura, birahamagarirwa kwiyandikisha hagamijwe gupiganira kubona inkunga nyunganizi binyujijwe mu mushinga wa Gwiza Muhinzi.
Abiyandikisha bagomba kuba bakorera mu turere dukurikira: Bugesera, Kayonza, Gatsibo, Kamonyi, Muhanga, Ruhango, Nyanza, Gisagara, Nyamasheke na Rusizi.
Ibigo bito by’ubucuruzi n’amakoperative byifuza kwiyandikisha bigomba kuzuza amakuru ajyanye ni ibyo bakora kuri: online form bitarenze tariki ya 06 Werurwe 2026.
CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO ADOPT AND SCALE THE CASSAVA PROCESSING TECHNOLOGIES
Date: 18th February 2026
The Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (The Alliance) deliver research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people’s lives. The Alliance solutions address the global crises of malnutrition, climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation (https://alliancebioversityciat.org/). With novel partnerships, the Alliance generates evidence and mainstreams innovations to transform food systems and landscapes so that they sustain the planet, drive prosperity, and nourish people. The Alliance is a member of the CGIAR Consortium (www.cgiar.org), a global research partnership for a food-secure future.
This activity is part of the initiatives implemented by the International Institute of Tropical agriculture (IITA), a research-for-development (R4D) organization dedicated to addressing hunger, poverty, and natural resource degradation inAfrica. In partnership with the Ingabo Syndicate, IITA is implementing the Gwiza Muhinzi project in Rwanda, which aims to strengthen the cassava value chain with support from the European Union Commission.
Thisinitiative strengthensthe cassava value chain by promoting diversified uses of cassava roots and peels for food and income by improving the productivity and profitability of cassava value chains in Rwanda by strengthening both production and post-harvest systems. To achieve this, the project promotesthe dissemination and adoption of improved cassava processing and post-harvest handling technologies that enhance value addition, reduce post-harvest losses, and improve incomes for cassava value chain actors.
The key technologies promoted under the project include High-Quality Cassava Flour (HQCF), High Quality Cassava Peels (HQCP), and improved Post-Harvest Handling Systems (PHHS). HQCF serves as an affordable and locally sourced ingredient for partial or full substitution of wheat flour in baked products and other processed foodstuffs. HQCP provides a value-added use of cassava by-products, particularly for animal feed, contributing to waste management and environmental protection. PHHS technologies improve the handling, storage, and processing of cassava roots, ensuring quality preservation and minimizing losses.
Smallholder enterprises and cooperatives working in the cassava value chain in post- harvest management are invited to submit an Expression of Interest for support under the Gwiza Muhinzi project.
Target Districts include: Bugesera, Kayonza, Gatsibo, Kamonyi, Muhanga, Ruhango, Nyanza, Gisagara, Nyamasheke and Rusizi.
Interested entrepreneurs must complete the online form not later than 06th March 2026
