Introduction

In collaboration with Plan International Rwanda, IMBARAGA Farmers’ Organization is implementing the project entitled “THRIVEin three districts of Rwanda (Nyaruguru, Gatsibo and Bugesera) whose goal is aiming to improve livelihoods of rural farming communities, increase income generating activities at households levels, and ensure food and nutrition security and safety of the program participants; with focus on climate change resilience and market access for small-scale farmers.

Assignment

In order to achieve the goals above, IMBARAGA Farmers’ Organization would like to hire a consulting firm or an individual consultant to build modern Greenhouses, one (1) greenhouse per district in the three (3) districts of Rwanda covered by THRIVE project.

Scope of work

IMBARAGA invites qualified consultancy firms or individuals for the construction of metallic greenhouses with essential equipment as outlined below:

  • Build a smart metallic greenhouse,
  • With the dimensions of 8M Width, 30M length, 2.7M side Height,4.7 Mid Height
  • Greenhouse Polyethene 200 microns,
  • With drip lines 15cm spacing 16mm diameter to irrigate crops,
  • Equipped with intelligent soil sensors, filter, and drip starter and rubber connector with end lines,
  • With overhead Plant support trellising system to support crop,
  • With Entry porch with double doors and foot bath to secure green house from pest during entry by farm workers,
  • Roll-up side ventilation to control the temperature inside the green House
  • Sensor to optimize yield: temperature, humidity, moisture, light and fertilizer
  • The water tank of 10,000 L for saving the water.

Assure the following:

  • Real time streaming of sensor data to initial dashboard and analytics
  • Customize dashboard creation based on data needed, display information on temperature, humidity, soil moisture and other parameters
  • Set alerts and notifications based on sensor thresholds
  • Remote monitoring through web and mobile applications
  • Scalable cloud infrastructure for large sensor networks
  • Secure data transmission and storage on initial state servers
  • Technical support for maintaining integration and troubleshooting
  • Control optimum plant conditions hence higher yields and lead instance of pests and diseases
  • Agronomist consultation on the crops health and growth
  • Train local community and make them independent growers

Do these for 6 months: seedlings to first plantation.

Approach

Prior to the installation of Greenhouses at the districts level, the consultant/Company will conduct field visits in Gatsibo, Nyaruguru and Bugesera districts to identify and select the best sites and produce detailed technical report per district.

Requirements

Interested services providers should include the following information in their bid documents:

  • Consultancy firm or individuals, highlighting experience with similar projects
  • Detailed quotation for the supply, delivery, and installation of the specified equipment
  • Timeline for delivery and installation at the district levels

Submission Deadline and Method

Bid documents (hard copy) should be submitted not later than November 12, 2024; 01:00pm at IMBARAGA Head Office, Kigali.

Evaluation Criteria

Bid documents will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Compliance with technical specifications.
  • Supplier’s experience and expertise in similar projects
  • Certificates of good completion
  • Detailed timeline and capacity to deliver
  • RRA tax clearance certificate
