Job Title: Graduate Technician
Department: Laboratory
Reports To: Laboratory Technician
Location: Rutongo Mines
Job Purpose:
The Graduate Technician supports laboratory operations by performing sample preparation, assisting in routine testing, and supervising Laboratory Assistants in daily tasks. The role is designed to build practical laboratory skills while ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to laboratory procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in sample preparation including drying, crushing, splitting, and pulverizing.
- Support routine laboratory testing under the guidance of the Laboratory Technician.
- Supervise and guide Laboratory Assistants in sample handling and preparation tasks.
- Ensure proper labeling, logging, and storage of samples.
- Monitor cleanliness and organization of laboratory work areas.
- Ensure Laboratory Assistants follow SOPs and safety standards.
- Assist in QAQC procedures by handling and tracking control samples.
- Record basic laboratory data accurately and report to the Laboratory Technician.
- Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or irregularities promptly.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safety protocols.
- Support inventory monitoring of consumables and materials.
- Learn and apply laboratory procedures and best practices.
- Performs any other task/s required by his/her Superior or and Management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Sciences, Chemistry, Geology, or related field.
- 0-1 year of experience (fresh graduates are encouraged to apply).
- Basic understanding of laboratory processes and sample preparation.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and take on responsibility.

Work Environment:
- Primarily laboratory-based work.

- May involve exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals with proper PPE.
