 AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Akagera Management Company Ltd (AMC Ltd) is a public–private partnership between African Parks Network and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), mandated to manage Akagera National Park.AMC Ltd is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate to fill the position of Field Operations Assistant in Akagera National Park.

The Field Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting the effective coordination and implementation of field operations across the park. The role involves assisting with operational planning, logistics, resource deployment, and communication between field teams to ensure smooth and efficient park operations. The Field Operations Assistant will support the monitoring of field activities, maintain accurate operational records, ensure compliance with established procedures, and contribute to the safe and effective execution of conservation, tourism, and infrastructure-related activities in remote and challenging field environments.

JOB OVERVIEW 

The field operations assistant is a direct assistant role embedded within the Field Operations team, dedicated to ensuring operational assistant tasks are being completed on time to ensure regulatory and internal operational compliance on the part of the operations teams 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  KEY RESULT AREAS (KRAs) 
1. Casual contract reconciliation
  • Manages casual labour requests according to budget and department 
  • Compiling casual labour reports and submissions for payment 
  • Ensuring that casual contracts are compliant and up to date 
  • Track casuals work completion with relevant departments for authentication prior to payment 
2. Environmental Documentation and Inspections 
  • Preparing and submitting applications for EIA/EA 
  • Following any mitigation reporting on EIA/EA 
  • Ensuring required routine testing is done to maintain compliance 
  • Complete routine inspections of park properties to ensure compliance 
3. Regulatory Safety & Compliance
  • Ensuring relevant permits for tourism operations are in place (pest, fire, insurance, security, operator certificates) 
  • Ensuring Park wide Emergency systems in place 
  • Ensuring all infrastructure is compliant with relevant regulator 
  • Ensure all departmental documents are properly archived and accessible 
  • Track validity and renewal timelines for operational documents 
4. Procurement & asset documentation support
  • Ensure all procurement documentation i.e. delivery notes and service completion forms are filed appropriately 
  • Asset documentation and user compliance management 
  • Routine internal operational audit reviews and reporting 
KEY RELATIONSHIP 
Field Operations Manager, Heads of stores, infrastructure, fleet, fence. 
JOB SPECIFICATION 

Required

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently 
  • Experience in contract administration, reconciliation, and payment processing 
  • High attention to detail in document review and record-keeping 
  • Proficiency in MS Office and digital filing systems 
  • Clear written communication for reports, submissions, and vendor correspondence 
  • Proactive follow-through — tracks outstanding items and closes loops without prompting 

Desired

  • Working knowledge of EIA/EA processes and environmental compliance reporting 
  • Familiarity with permitting for tourism operations (fire, insurance, security, operator certificates, etc.) 
  • Prior experience in tourism, conservation, or parks operations 
  • Valid Driving license, English & Kinyarwanda 

Added advantage

  • Born and living near Akagera National Park;
  • Being a member of any cooperative from around the Akagera National Park.
