Description:

The Inventory Controller is a key operational role responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of all inventories across Fish, Fuel, Feeds, and Consumables. The role ensures efficient inventory movement within the ERP system, timely reconciliations, and robust controls that protect company assets against wastage, theft, and fraud. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and analytical professional who collaborates closely with Finance and Procurement teams to deliver reliable inventory data that supports accurate financial reporting and informed decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implementing inventory controls to prevent wastage, theft, and fraud.
  • Ensuring efficient movement of inventory in ERPN (Fish, Fuel, Feeds, consumables). This entails timely creation of purchase receipt, timely posting of material transfers and material issues
  • Ensure timely posting of inventory purchases and filing of related supporting documentation.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly stock take (Fish, Feeds, Fuel, consumables)
  • Identify stock variances between warehouses and ERPN, investigate the root causes and suggest corrective actions
  • Perform weekly and monthly stock reconciliation between stock take results and ERPN.
  • Work with the Senior accountant and FP&A manager to perform inventory valuation at the end of the month
  • Assist in collecting data of fish stock movement at Logistics Centers and ensure proper track of their records.
  • Ensure proper filing of inventory movements (material transfers and material issues)
  • Assist management in identifying obsolete and spoiled inventory and suggesting an appropriate course of action.
  • Work Procurement team to reconcile identify and reconcile Inventory in transit at the end of each reporting period.
  • Assist the Senior Accountant and FP&A manager during the year end of audit and internal audits providing supporting documentation and explanations required for audit purposes.
  • Ensure correct classification of inventory types (Feeds, Consumables, Fish, Fuel), correct categorization of stock and capital items. Provide a weekly report of identified misclassified or miscategorized items for management’s action.
  • Any other assignment as it may be determined by the supervisors.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Professional Accounting Qualification (CPA, ACCA, CFA or CIMA) completed, or in progress preferred.
  • Prior experience in inventory management would be an advantage
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, and data analysis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
