1. Overview
Maternal and Neonatal Child Nutrition and Health (MNCH) is at the core of Rwanda's health sector priorities, reflecting the Ministry of Health (MoH)'s commitment to reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates and improving overall health outcomes. Recognizing the critical role of MNCNH in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Ministry of Health seeks to adopt innovative and evidence-based interventions to strengthen health systems and deliver impactful results.
The "Evaluating Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Nutrition and Health (MNCNH) Innovation Impact in Rwanda" project represents a pivotal initiative to assess and validate groundbreaking interventions in MNCNH. This project seeks to identify effective strategies, evaluate their scalability, and ensure Rwanda’s Vision 2050 goal of significantly reducing maternal, neonatal, infant, and under-five mortality rates is achieved. Through rigorous evaluation, the project aims to provide actionable insights to inform policy and improve health service delivery.
As part of this project, Purpose Africa, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, seeks a qualified Data Manager to develop and oversee robust data management systems, ensuring data quality, security, and integrity. This role is pivotal in designing data collection tools, maintaining databases, and generating actionable insights to guide project decision-making and implementation.
2. Job Summary
The Data Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the project’s data systems at the provincial level/the city of Kigali. This includes developing protocols, ensuring data quality and security, providing on-site/remote technical support for data collection systems at health facilities, and conducting analyses to support the project's goals. The role involves close collaboration with field teams at health facilities and other stakeholders to ensure data-driven decision-making throughout the project.
3. Roles and Responsibilities
Under the guidance and supervision of the country focal person and the project manager, the data manager will have the following specific responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain data management protocols and procedures.
- Design data collection tools and databases.
- Provide technical support for data collection systems at the health facility
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
- Conduct data analysis and generate regular reports.
- Collaborate with the Intelligence health centre for data analysis
- Any other data-related task assigned by the county focal person and/ or Project Manager
4. Reporting Line
The data manager will be working under the direct supervision of the Purpose Africa country focal person, and the project manager of the MoH
5. Required Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirement |
A bachelor’s degree in health informatics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Applied Science, or a related field. |
