Provide personalized facilities to children, youth, and elderly people from poor and vulnerable families in order to help them achieve their desired potential and fully participate in society with dignity.

Invite people of good will to live/work in regular solidarity with the people from poor and vulnerable families through one-to-one sponsorship.

Building community by fostering relationships of mutual respect, understanding, and support in order to improve the well-being of poor and vulnerable families.

CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EoI)

Recruitment of a professional capacity building company

Introduction

U'MWIZA-RWANDA a nonprofit organization that partners with families and community to support their self-directed paths out of poverty through empowerment, leadership development, income generation, and community strengthening initiatives towards direct, medium and long-term goals with sustainable impacts. 

Inspired by this community-centered approach, U'MWIZA-RWANDA is implementing programs aimed at improving the livelihoods, economic resilience, leadership capacity, and social well-being of vulnerable families and community groups in Rwanda.

To strengthen the capacity of beneficiaries and community-based groups, U'MWIZA-RWANDA invites qualified, experienced, and professional capacity building firms or organizations to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the provision of training and coaching services for a period of two (2) years, starting from June 2026 to May 2028.

The selected company will support beneficiaries and Support Families Group (SFGs) through practical and participatory trainings designed to strengthen their economic capacity, leadership, planning, hygiene, production, and cooperative management skills.

Areas of training

  1. Practical Income Generating Activities (IGA)

The selected company will provide practical training aimed at helping beneficiaries develop sustainable income generating activities that can improve household income and reduce poverty. The training is expected to focus on entrepreneurship, small business development, livestock and agricultural activities, value addition, and other locally viable economic opportunities that can strengthen family resilience and self-reliance.

  1. Goal setting

The company will facilitate trainings that help beneficiaries develop personal, family, and group goals. Participants should be guided on how to identify priorities, develop achievable plans, monitor progress, and build a vision for long-term social and economic development. The training should encourage positive mindset transformation and personal responsibility.

  1. Group leadership and financial management

The selected company will train community groups and leaders on effective leadership, accountability, transparency, conflict management, and teamwork. The training should also strengthen participants’ knowledge and skills in financial management, savings culture, financial record keeping, internal controls, and proper management of group resources.

  1. Budgeting and planning

The company will provide practical training on budgeting and planning for households, small businesses, and community groups. Beneficiaries should gain skills in financial planning, expense management, prioritization of resources, and preparation of realistic budgets that support economic growth and sustainability.

  1. Hygiene and sanitation

The selected company will conduct awareness and practical training sessions on hygiene and sanitation to improve the health and living conditions of beneficiaries. The training should focus on personal hygiene, environmental cleanliness, nutrition, sanitation practices, disease prevention, and community health promotion. In line with the Government of Rwanda’s efforts to fight against human security issues and improve household living standards, the training should also emphasize the importance of proper toilet construction and usage, establishment of clean kitchens, safe housing conditions, and avoiding cohabitation with domestic animals in order to promote healthy and safe family environments.

  1. Market oriented production

The company will support beneficiaries to understand market-oriented production approaches that improve income and competitiveness. The training should address market analysis, customer needs, product quality improvement, value chains, pricing strategies, and production planning based on market demand.

  1. Cooperative formation and management

The selected company will provide training and technical guidance on cooperative formation, governance, administration, leadership structures, legal registration processes, and sustainable cooperative management. The training should strengthen the capacity of groups to operate effectively and promote long-term economic development and self-sustainability.

  1. Group legal compliance

The company will train groups and community organizations on legal and regulatory compliance requirements. The training should include cooperative regulations, tax obligations, registration procedures, labor regulations, reporting responsibilities, and other legal obligations necessary for proper group operation and sustainability.

Scope of activities

The selected company will conduct trainings and mentorship activities within the operational sectors of U'Mwiza-Rwanda located in Kigali City and Bugesera District. In Kigali City, the activities will be implemented in the sectors of Rusororo, Ndera, Bumbogo, Remera, Kimironko, Kinyinya, Jabana, Gatenga, and Gahanga. In Bugesera District, the activities will be conducted in Rweru and Mwogo sectors.

The company is expected to organize participatory training sessions, provide follow-up mentorship, support community groups, and submit periodic progress reports throughout the implementation period.

Required qualifications

Interested companies or organizations must demonstrate proven experience in capacity building, community development, livelihood promotion, cooperative development, or related fields. Applicants should have qualified trainers with strong facilitation skills and practical experience working with vulnerable communities, savings groups, cooperatives, women groups, youth groups, or NGOs. The company must also possess valid legal registration documents and tax clearance certificates.

Submission requirements

Interested companies should submit the following documents:

Company profile; 

  • Technical proposal; 
  • Financial proposal; 
  • Copy of company registration certificate; 
  • Tax clearance certificate; 
  • Evidence of previous similar assignments; 
  • CVs of proposed trainers/facilitators; 
  • At least three references from previous clients or partners. 

Duration of Assignment

The assignment shall be implemented over a period of two (2) years, starting from June 2026 to May 2028.
