Purpose of the Position

Solace Ministries is seeking to hire a Trainer who is responsible for the training of Early Childhood Development caregivers as well as the facilitation of networking between Caregivers and parents in Jali Sector for ECD centers. 

In fact, Solace Ministries is currently working in the District of Gasabo through Jali Sector to support trainers and parents in the promotion of quality education of children. The position of Early Childhood Education Trainer is a crucial part of the implementation of this. The role involves walking alongside educators, leaders, and parents to equip and support them in the delivery of quality education at an early age, working as part of a team. Almost eighty percent of the trainer’s time will be spent on active fieldwork in Jali Sector. The remainder of the time will be spent on focused learning (with peers and management) and fulfilling various administrative responsibilities such as planning and reporting.

Job Functions: 

  1. Recognize the unique abilities of individuals and assist others in valuing everyone’s contributions. 
  2. Encourage, support, motivate, and work interactively with caregivers/parents to develop and implement ongoing goals. 
  3. Support the caregiver/parent to provide environments and opportunities which promote the child’s growth and development for any of the developmental domains, (language and literacy, health and physical development, approaches to learning, social emotional development, creative arts, science, mathematics). 
  4. Assist caregivers/parent to structure environments, routines and interactions that contribute to positive social-emotional outcomes for the children and families in a program. 
  5. Focus on specific tasks, skills or techniques which can be mastered and measured.
  6. Assist caregivers/parents to structure environments, routines and interactions that contribute to a positive social behavior support plan for the child.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide all Quality Education training modules to the required standard.
  • Collect accurate data and produce accurate and timely progress reports as well as other relevant administrative tasks.
  • Provide the required support in the Quality Education and Community Involvement activities.
  • Provide parents and caregivers with knowledge and skills on children's rights and protection.

Work well as a team member:

  • Building strong relationships with each school community and with all education stakeholders.
  • Supporting and encouraging fellow colleagues.
  • Be willing to do any other work-related duties including administrative tasks as deemed appropriate by the Line Manager.

Trainer Requirements or qualification:

  • A degree in social work, sociology, education or related field.
  • Prior experience at least 3 years as a trainer in early childhood development or a similar position.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify gaps in skills.
  • Knowledge of various teaching methods and approaches.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
