RECRUITING A MARKET LINKAGE CONSULTANT TO DELIVER TRAINING AND LINK WOMEN-LED COOPERATIVES WITH VIABLE MARKETS.

Background

Women for Women Rwanda (WfW-Rwanda) is a national NGO dedicated to supporting women and girls in Rwanda to break the cycle of poverty and social exclusion. The organization empowers women to become socially and economically capable of leading their communities toward better health, education, and overall conditions.

In partnership with GIZ, WfW-Rwanda is implementing an 18-month initiative, titled “Strengthening Women-led Cooperatives in Rwanda.” This project aims to enhance the competitiveness and income-generating capacity of women-led cooperatives engaged in diverse value chains, including leather product manufacturingtailoringFrench bean cultivation, and strawberry farming. The project targets cooperatives in Gasabo and Nyaruguru districts.

WfW-Rwanda is seeking a qualified Market Linkage Consultant to provide specialized training and ongoing support to these cooperatives, leading to their enhanced market access and sustainability.

Gasabo & Nyaruguru

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Agribusiness, Marketing, or another related field.
  • Proven knowledge in market systems, value chain development, and cooperative strengthening.
  • Experience training adults, especially women.
  • Having the competency to deliver the training in Kinyarwanda.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.

Expected Deliverables/Responsibilities

The Consultant is expected to:

  • Support cooperative members: Deliver training and services tailored to leather product making, tailoring, French beans farming, and strawberry farming to enhance livelihoods.
  • Market connections: Identify and link cooperatives with buyers, processors, and service providers to increase market access.
  • Capacity building: Train cooperative members in product development, quality control, and meeting market standards.
  • Tools and resource management: Ensure proper use and management of training materials and equipment.
  • Progress assessment: Monitor, evaluate and document cooperative members’ progress, providing monthly reports.
  • Business strategy development: Guide cooperatives in creating business profiles and marketing plans.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
