Individual Trainer for English Language Professional Skills
Background
Generation Rise is a local non-profit organization dedicated challenge gender norms and break down barriers so girls can step into and thrive in education, leadership, and opportunity in school, home and in the society. Under the project entitled Generation Rise- Be that Girl scholarship which aims at supporting women to pursue higher education through financial, mentoring and career guidance support, GR seeks to engage the services of a qualified and experienced English language teacher to support BTG scholars to enhance their proficiency in English, particularly in speaking and writing. This initiative aims to strengthen the students’ communication skills and better prepare them for academic, professional, and global environments.
Objective
The primary goal of this engagement is to provide intensive English language instruction focused on improving the speaking and writing skills of adult university students. The course will run over a period of two months and will be tailored to meet the specific needs and proficiency levels of the participants.
Scope of Work
The selected teacher will be responsible for:
- Designing and delivering a two-month English language course with a focus on speaking and writing skills.
- Conducting a brief needs assessment at the beginning of the program to determine the students’ language proficiency levels.
- Preparing a structured curriculum and weekly lesson plans.
- Providing interactive, engaging, and practical language instruction suitable for adult learners.
- Giving regular assignments, providing feedback, and assessing student progress.
- Submitting a final report at the end of the program detailing student achievements andareas for continued improvement.
- Identify and recommend relevant online English learning resources and mentor trainees in their use.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and engagement, and inform the Generation Rise team in case of repeated absenteeism.
Deliverables
- Needs assessment report (Week 1)
- Weekly lesson plans and instructional materials
- Mid-term student progress report (End of Week 4)
- Final assessment of student performance
- Final summary report with recommendations
Duration and Timeline
The duration of the assignment is two (2) months from the start date. The two parties shall work together and agree on the work plan prior the beginning of the implementation.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field
- A recognized certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (e.g., TEFL, TESOL, CELTA)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching English to adult learners, preferably at university level
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in curriculum design and learner assessment
Reporting and Supervision
The selected teacher will report to the BTG Program Coordinator. Regular check-ins and progress reviews will be scheduled throughout the engagement.
