Dr. Lema is an experienced data scientist currently working as a researcher for AIMS (African Institute of Mathematical Sciences) and a data scientist for the Rwanda National Institute of Statistics (NISR). Setting up R and RStudio for efficient workflows.

Core statistical concepts: measures of central tendency, dispersion, and distributions.
Importing and exploring datasets, with hands-on exercises using real-world African data (e.g., economic or health datasets).

Weekend 2: Data Manipulation and Visualization

Mastering data manipulation with dplyr and tidyr: importing, cleaning, and transforming data (CSV, Excel, JSON).
Techniques for handling missing values, duplicates, and data inconsistencies; working with strings and dates (stringr, lubridate).
Principles of effective visualization using ggplot2 to create bar charts, scatter plots, and line graphs tailored to African contexts.
Hands-on: Cleaning a dataset and building professional visualizations for stakeholder communication.

Weekend 3: Statistical Analysis and Effective Communication
