PLAY International in Rwanda opened its mission in 2024 and is looking for a pedagogical assistant.

The company is due to take up its post by mid-June 2026.

Workplace: RWANDA - Kigali - Gasabo; travel to the districts of intervention is to be expected.

PLAY International is a French NGO founded in 1999 on the conviction that sport is a source of solutions to our social challenges. PLAY International's main mission is to design and implement education and inclusion projects for children and young people in vulnerable situations, using sport as a pedagogical tool. The NGO works on issues such as access to and retention in school, equality between girls and boys, community reconciliation, and health prevention, including healthy lifestyles (nutrition, physical activity, sleep hygiene, and responsible digital/screen use), as well as changing perceptions towards disability. Since its creation, PLAY International has implemented educational and humanitarian projects in France and abroad in over 20 countries, benefiting nearly 1 million children. Today, the association is present in 7 countries: Burundi, DRC, France, Kosovo, Indian Ocean, Senegal, and Rwanda. PLAY International is a member of Groupe SOS.

Role and position

The Toutes En Sport programme is entering its final year of implementation. The partner network is composed of a pool of facilitators and club coaches operating in 5 schools and 22 communities.

The rollout of training sessions using play as a tool to promote gender equality and prevent violence against children and girls requires regular pedagogical support and follow-up. This will be the main mission of the Pedagogical assistant.

Reporting to the pedagogical coordinator, who is responsible for the pedagogical strategy, and working closely with the PLAY Rwanda team, the Pedagogical assistant will be responsible for monitoring, supporting, and evaluating the pedagogical progress of trained participants. The pedagogical assistant is supervised by the Country representative, who is her/his line manager.

Responsibilities and missions

1. Support the co-creation of pedagogical content

  • Support the creation and adaptation of educational/ pedagogical content (game sessions, thematic sheets, guides, etc.) in line with project objectives and beneficiary profiles;
  • Participate in the development of pedagogical content and training tools (training plans, modules, etc.).

2. Ensure the delivery of initial and continuous training for sports facilitators

  • Deliver initial and refresher training sessions for practitioners and for PLAY’s target audiences (coaches, teachers, educators, and others).
  • Support the deployment of PLAY pedagogical tools.
  • Disseminate pedagogical content and training materials (manuals, toolkits, etc.).
  • Closely monitor the progress of facilitators and teachers through field visits, observation forms, and tracking tools.
  • Anticipate pedagogical challenges and propose appropriate solutions in line with the MEAL system.

3. Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation system of pedagogical activities

  • Manage the schedule for reports submitted by facilitators.
  • Organize data collection and reporting for the capitalization of field activities and lessons learned.
  • Support the visibility and external communication of activities (storytelling, success stories, etc.).

4. Facilitate and deploy sports games and civic events

  • Organize and facilitate sports-based games for different groups of young people in institutional, associative, or community settings.
  • Contribute to the organization of playful civic and sports events aimed at promoting PLAY projects and advocacy initiatives.

5. Follow-up, support and evaluation of trained participants

  • Participate in the follow-up, support, monitoring and evaluation of trained participants (trainers, teachers, facilitators, school directors, institutional stakeholders, etc.)
  • Support project follow-up related to training and facilitation activities.

Minimum Qualification

A Bachelor's degree in education or Physical sport Education, sport management, social sciences.

Experience & Profile

The candidate will have at least three years’ experience in training delivery, pedagogy, community engagement, implementation is ESSENTIAL (please do not apply if you lack such experience); an experience in sports for development is an asset.

This experience should demonstrate the following mandatory qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the education field including training, teaching, pedagogy, or capacity-building activities.
  • Experience working on projects related to children, including education, child development, safeguarding, or child-focused community programmes.

Skills required

  • Strong facilitation and training skills, with the ability to work with coaches, teachers, educators, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection, reporting, and use of tracking tools;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software (Canva, Google Workspace, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Kinyarwanda and English; French is an added advantage.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and pay close attention to detail.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate and adapt challenges.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for field visits and project activities (most of the time during weekends).

Conditions

Start date: Mid-June 2026

Local contract of 40 hours per week with 1.75 days off/month;

Health insurance.

Gross monthly salary: RWF 1,300,000
