We offer a wide range of non-formal educational programmes and activities,  encouraging girls and young women to develop their own special personalities, make a contribution to their community, and form friendships in a positive environment.

About Us

The Association des Guides du Rwanda (AGR) is a national girls’ and young women’s movement dedicated to empowering girls and young women to become confident leaders and active citizens. Through leadership development, education programmes, and community engagement, AGR supports girls and young women to realize their full potential and contribute positively to their communities.

AGR is part of the global Guiding movement and is affiliated with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, which reaches millions of girls worldwide.

About the Role

AGR is looking for a passionate and experienced Head of Programmes to lead the design, implementation, and growth of programmes that empower girls and young women across Rwanda.

This role is ideal for a leader who believes in the power of young women to transform communities and who is committed to strengthening programmes that support leadership, education, and social impact.

Working closely with the Executive Director and programme team, the Head of Programmes will ensure that AGR’s initiatives are impactful, well-coordinated, and aligned with the organization’s strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership

  • Lead the development, planning, and implementation of AGR programmes.
  • Ensure programmes respond to the needs and aspirations of girls and young women.
  • Provide technical guidance to programme team, volunteers, and youth leaders.

Programme Quality and Impact

  • Strengthen programme monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems.
  • Ensure effective documentation of programme achievements, lessons learned, and impact.

Partnerships and Resource Mobilization

  • Contribute to building strong partnerships with donors, civil society organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Support the development of project proposals and funding opportunities to sustain AGR programmes.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support programme team.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive team environment.

Representation and Advocacy

  • Represent AGR in relevant meetings, networks, and partnerships when delegated.
  • Promote the visibility and impact of AGR programmes at national and international levels.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Management, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in programme management within the NGO or development sector.
  • Experience in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Experience working with donors and development partners.
  • Experience managing and mentoring teams.
