Gasmeth are an SPV of companies who have complimentary strengths in the Rwandan energy and Petrochemicals sector. We have brought together Technical, Financial, Managerial and Operational strengths to take on the challenge of designing an exclusive, sole risk project to safely extract, process and distribute Rwanda’s untapped gas resources.

We have signed a 25 year concession agreement with the government of Rwanda for extracting up to 40MMscf/d of Natural gas from Lake Kivu in Rwanda. Our project will construct an offshore gas extraction facility along with onshore gas processing and compression plants for creation of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Gasmeth have begun investing in distribution and retail operations for AutoCNG and Biofuel replacement throughout Rwanda. We have signed a number of key anchor customers to utilise this new, domestic, green resource. (We Have put together the technical & managerial skills and sourced the technology to execute the gas extraction and CNG supply projects.)

Gasmeth Energy MISSION:

Gasmeth Energy is to assist Rwanda’s transition to cleaner energy, responsibly developing and harnessing Rwanda’s indigenous gas resources to bolster the nation’s economic growth and improve the well-being of its people.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Electrical Technician will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical and electromechanical systems across Gasmeth Energy facilities. The position supports the implementation, supervision, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical installations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. The technician will actively support the continuous improvement of system performance, providing technical support to both site operations and project execution teams to enable the timely and effective delivery of project objectives.

PRIMARY DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend to electrical/Electromechanical maintenance and troubleshooting requests at client facilities and company premises
  • Conduct functional tests, inspections, and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and compliance
  • Respond promptly to service calls and ensure minimal downtime for client operations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service reports for all interventions.
  • Perform quality checks and ensure all electrical installations meet relevant design standards, client specifications, and industry best practices
  • Participate in load calculations, cable routing, and equipment layout reviews during design and execution phases
  • Support the engineering team with as-built documentation and technical input during system upgrades or modifications.
  • Plan and manage the procurement, delivery, and storage of electrical tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of coordinating effectively across multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Adaptable and resilient, able to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive, results-oriented attitude.
  • Proven Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical design and other standard electrical design and drafting software.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise project documents, reports, and work procedures.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of coordinating effectively across multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Proven experience in electromechanical system installation, supervision, operation, commissioning, and maintenance.

QUALIFICATION

  • Advanced Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Electromechanics Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant experience in EPC projects, electrical construction, and maintenance

Location

  • Permanently based in Karongi and will be required to travel to the construction sites (KARONGI and RUBAVU) and overseas to Contractors and Vendors.
