Gasmeth are an SPV of companies who have complimentary strengths in the Rwandan energy and Petrochemicals sector. We have brought together Technical, Financial, Managerial and Operational strengths to take on the challenge of designing an exclusive, sole risk project to safely extract, process and distribute Rwanda’s untapped gas resources.

We have signed a 25 year concession agreement with the government of Rwanda for extracting up to 40MMscf/d of Natural gas from Lake Kivu in Rwanda. Our project will construct an offshore gas extraction facility along with onshore gas processing and compression plants for creation of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Gasmeth have begun investing in distribution and retail operations for AutoCNG and Biofuel replacement throughout Rwanda. We have signed a number of key anchor customers to utilise this new, domestic, green resource. (We Have put together the technical & managerial skills and sourced the technology to execute the gas extraction and CNG supply projects.)

Job Description.

POSITION TITLE: Driver

COUNTRY: Rwanda

LOCATION: Kigali

RESPONSIBLE TO: Office Manager

STATUS: Full-time position

SUPERVISORY CAPACITY: N/A

COUNTRY PROGRAM MISSION:

Gasmeth Energy aims to reduce or remove environmental pollution using cleaner, greener gas displacing liquid or solid hydrocarbons. Developing and producing methane from Lake Kivu in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner. Distributing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) throughout the region.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Based at Gasmeth HQ, Kigali, the driver is responsible for transporting general staff, Senior Management and executives within Rwanda. They must drive their passengers in a safe, comfortable, and professional manner whilst simultaneously keeping track of navigation, traffic, and timing.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure provision of reliable and safe driving services by driving office vehicles for the transport of Gasmeth Senior Management and other high-ranking officials
  • Keeps abreast of traffic and road and security and safety awareness to enable safe and on-time arrival for meetings.
  • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs and provision of inputs to prepare of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, and water levels, car washing, etc. So that the vehicle is always kept clean and in good running condition.
  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
  • Keeps track of insurance and other formalities.
  • Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
  • When necessary, translate into the local language for the official personnel using the car.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to junior drivers as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50).
  • Familiarity with GPS devices.
  • Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods.
  • Ability to lift heavy packages and luggage.
  • Availability to occasionally take weekend and night shifts.
  • A polite and professional disposition.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour).
  • High school diploma.
  • Five years of experience in driving.
  • Experience driving VIPs, Diplomats, or Executives
  • Understand locals for basic amenities for personnel who have not visited Rwanda before.
  • Excellent interpersonal or organizational skills
  • Fluent in English
