CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR YOUTH INTERESTED IN AGRIBUSINESS IN KAYONZA DISTRICT.
Kilimo Trust Rwanda is seeking highly motivated youth in agriculture sector to join the upcoming technical trainings in food Processing and Operation & Maintenance of Farm Tractors and Machinery under Kayonza Irrigation and Integrated Watershed Management Project - Phase II(KIIWP-2 Project).
About KIIWP-2 Project
The Kayonza Irrigation and Integrated Watershed Management Project – Phase II KIIWP-2 Project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources through RAB-SPIU and funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The project operates in Kayonza District and aims to support farmers to achieve food security, increase income-generating activities, strengthen resilience to climate change, and promote youth employment through structured job creation programs.
Nature of support
KIIWP-2 support includes:
- Building technical skills through short vocational courses (3months) in agribusiness that are offered at selected Rwanda Polytechnic colleges (RP’s), Technical Secondary Schools (TSS’s) or TVET Schools of Rwanda TVET Board (RTB), and/or Centers of experiential learning.
- Workplace learning in agribusiness industries/ companies to expose youth to the world of work.
- Supporting most innovative and profitable agribusiness startups with potential to create job opportunities for other youth (including green jobs)..
Purpose of the call
Kilimo Trust is organizing technical training for youth interested in agribusiness in Kayonza District. Selected participants will receive technical and entrepreneurial skills through agribusiness industries, Rwanda Polytechnic colleges, and TVET schools to build their skills for sustainable employment as competent employees or better service/product providers in agribusiness in the following areas:
- Food processing
- Operation & Maintenance of Farm Tractors and Machinery
Cost:
KIIWP-2 does not charge trainees any cost during the application and training period.
Training and learning costs are covered by KIIWP-2 project.
Selection criteria: the selection will be based on a competitive application process, and the applicant must be:
- Aged between 18-35 years.
- Having completed at least Senior Three (S.3) and above.
- Committed to attend and complete the technical and Vocational training.
- Having valid medical insurance or Mutuelle de Sante
- The call is for youth with residency in Kayonza district.
