ASSISTANT TEA MAKER (2)

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Assistant Tea Maker will ensure optimum utilization of resources and creation of enabling environment with view to achieving quality, safety and production goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring production in all areas
  • Ensuring that tea produced meet set quality standards
  • Carrying out tea testing during the shift
  • Supervising and appraising staff and identifying their training needs
  • Ensuring sound maintenance of production equipment
  • Ensuring maintenance of hygiene standards in the production floor
  • Ensuring timely achievement of set production targets
  • Implementing production schedules and liaising with manager / Tea maker for any deviation of the production plan
  • Organizing for processing of quality tea during the shift
  • Updating stock control records as per approved procedures
  • Coordinating receiving and withering of tea leaf as per approved procedures
  • Enforcing environmental health, safety and regulation measures
  • Ensuring that tea produced meet the set quality standards
  • Ensuring that set production targets are achieved within the time frame
  • Reporting any change which could affect food safety to the food safety team.
  • Report food safety issues to the Food Safety Team Leader
  • Attending tea tasting/presenting tea on behalf of the factory during different events
  • Performing any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors in food technology
  • 3 working experience in similar responsibilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
  • Decision making, problem solving, reporting and people skills.
  • Excellent communication skills: written and verbal. Oral proficiency in English and Kinyarwanda is a requirement.
  • Computer literacy and competency in excel and the standard office applications

Location

The role shall be based full time at the Mulindi Factory Company in Gicumbi District, Northern Province.
