Job Purpose (summary)

• Accountant He/she ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records through strong accounting controls, compliance oversight, and reconciliation processes. This role is critical to maintain financial discipline, timely reporting, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Perform reconciliations for accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), inventory, and high-value physical assets (HPA).
  • Organize and supervise monthly and annual stock counts; ensure variances are reviewed and booked in SAP prior to closure.
  • Coordinate with intercompany finance teams to ensure accurate and timely recording of intercompany transactions.
  • Lead preparation for external audits and manage statutory filings, tax submissions (Rwanda Revenue Authority), and regulatory compliance.
  • Support implementation of internal controls and financial policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks assigned by the Finance Manager 
  • Knowledge & General Skill Requirements of the Role
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; progress toward CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial control, accounting, or audit.
  • Solid working knowledge of IFRS and Rwandan statutory and tax requirements (RRA filings, VAT, PAYE, and related regulatory obligations).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and MS Excel.
  • Experience working directly with external auditors and regulators.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable flagging issues before they escalate
