Job Summary
We are looking for an organized and proactive Transport Coordinator to manage and coordinate the daily movement of vehicles, personnel, and telecom equipment across project sites. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient, safe, and timely delivery of network infrastructure, support field technicians, and manage fleet logistics to support the deployment and maintenance of telecommunication assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and dispatch vehicles and drivers to support telecom installation, maintenance, and project needs.
- Track vehicle movements using GPS systems and ensure compliance with company travel policies.
- Coordinate the transportation of telecom equipment (e.g., masts, routers, cabling) to sites across urban and rural areas.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to align transport needs with field operations.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules, fuel usage, and documentation (licenses, insurance, inspection reports).
- Respond to emergencies or delays, rerouting vehicles as needed to meet service deadlines.
- Maintain records of vehicle assignments, mileage, costs, and job completion reports.
- Ensure adherence to transport safety standards, telecom asset handling protocols, and government regulations.
- Support logistics planning for large-scale deployments or cross-border telecom operations.
- Generate daily and weekly transport reports for management review.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in fleet/transport coordination, preferably in telecom, construction, or utility sectors.
- Knowledge of vehicle tracking systems, route planning tools, and MS Excel.
- Familiarity with handling sensitive telecom infrastructure and working in remote site logistics.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage pressure and make real-time decisions.
- Valid driver’s license is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with telecom asset tracking platforms.
- Basic understanding of telecom field operations and network deployment processes.
- Knowledge of RURA or relevant transport/logistics regulatory frameworks.
