CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - THE RISE & HELP PROGRAM OF THE GLOBAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.

Context of the position: 

SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda is an independent member association affiliated to the SOS Federation. SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda leverages existing community resources to strengthen quality childcare and protection through a holistic continuum of care tailored to orphans, vulnerable children, and their families. SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda actively advocates for the promotion of childcare and child protection. In Rwanda, SOS Children’s Villages operate in four locations based in Gasabo, Gicumbi, Kayonza and Nyamagabe Districts. In order to further fulfil the above-mentioned responsibilities, SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda in collaboration with Rise & help program is seeking to recruit 20 volunteers based in Rwanda who are passionate about making a difference in their communities through civic engagement.

MISSION OF THE POSITION:

A volunteer for Rise and Help program will have secured a volunteer position (non-employment) to address a social issue and are focused, passionate about any of the following topics:

o Fighting poverty

o Child and Youth Care

o Access to healthcare, education, or safety

o Advancing children’s and youth rights and participation

o Girls’ Rights

o Climate change

ELIGIBILITY

  • Between 18 and 30 years old.
  • Based in Rwanda.
  • High school graduates planning to start or defer university, tertiary, or voluntary training education program to engage in civic activities for one year.
  • Current students (high school, university, tertiary, or vocational) seeking a one-year break to explore career paths through civic engagement.
  • Young professionals (recent graduates with up to two years of experience) wanting to take time off work to reflect on career goals through civic engagement.
  • Come from a low-income background, defined as having a yearly personal and family income at or below 357,254 RWF per year.
